ChatGPT training
for everyday work.

Learn to use ChatGPT for drafting, summarising, research and working with files and data, with the judgement to check what comes back before you use it.

How ChatGPT fits your work

Scattered information becomes reviewable work.

Notes, threads and spreadsheets go in; a structured brief, a draft and a reviewed output come out.

  1. Scattered information

    • Call notes
    • 42-message thread
    • sales.csv
    • A half-written email
  2. Structured brief

    • Goal
    • Audience
    • Context
    • Format
    • Checks
  3. Draft

    Summary for leadership

    • Decision: launch moves to May
    • North region down 12%
    • Three actions with owners
  4. Reviewed output

    • Figures checked against data (Checked)
    • Names and dates correct (Checked)
    • Ready to send (Checked)

Illustrative example A prepared demonstration of the workflow you learn. It is not live AI output, and the names and figures are examples.

What it is good for at work

Four things you will practise.

Illustrative examples of the kind of work covered. They are prepared examples, not live AI output.

Draft

Turn rough notes into a first draft you then edit.

You bring
  • notes from Tuesday’s call
  • need a reply to the client
  • keep it short, friendly
You shape
  • Subject: Next steps from Tuesday
  • Thanks for your time on Tuesday…
  • Three actions, each with an owner

Summarise

Condense long threads and documents into what matters.

You bring
  • 42-message email thread
  • decisions buried in replies
  • who agreed to what?
You shape
  • Decision: launch moves to May
  • Open question: budget owner
  • Actions: Priya, Sam, Lee

Analyse

Explore a spreadsheet and explain what the numbers show.

You bring
  • sales.csv · 1,200 rows
  • which region slowed?
  • explain it simply
You shape
  • North fell 12% after March
  • Two products drive the drop
  • Chart + a check of the totals

Research

Gather starting points, then verify every source yourself.

You bring
  • new market: aged care
  • what should we learn first?
  • sources please
You shape
  • Five questions to investigate
  • Starting sources, each to verify
  • What not to assume

Accounts and access

Before you start

A ChatGPT account. A free account works for the exercises, though the free tier has tighter limits on file uploads and data analysis. If your organisation provides a work account, use that so you practise inside your own usage rules.

Features and limits change. We check them against the official documentation before each course and tell you what applies to your account.
