The course in one example

Source documents become a grounded summary you can check.

Long source documents become referenced findings and a summary where every claim points back to a page you can check.

  1. Source documents

    1. Annual report · 64 pp
    2. Policy review · 80 pp
    3. Board minutes · 12 pp
  2. Findings with references

    Key findings

    • Costs up 9% (Report, p. 14)
    • Policy gap on data (Review, §3.2)
    • Decision pending (Minutes, item 4)
  3. Reusable Project

    • Instructions: board style
    • Files: 3 sources attached
    • Reused each month
  4. Grounded summary

    • Costs up 9% — p. 14 matches (Checked)
    • Data gap — §3.2 matches (Checked)
    • Decision date — check minutes (Action needed)

Illustrative example A prepared demonstration of the workflow you learn. It is not live AI output, and the names and figures are examples.

Who it's for

People new to Claude, or moving from another assistant, whose work involves long documents, careful writing or complex reasoning.

Experience needed: None needed with Claude. Comfortable with email and documents is enough.

Problems it solves

If this sounds familiar

  • Long reports and policies that are slow to read and compare
  • Writing that needs care, structure and a consistent standard
  • Re-explaining the same background every time you start a chat
  • Accepting answers without seeing the reasoning behind them

Outcomes

By the end you can

  • Give Claude the context it needs, in the right order
  • Work through long documents and compare versions
  • Set up a Project with reference material you reuse
  • Draft and edit structured documents in your own voice
  • Ask for reasoning you can check, not just answers
  • Know when to verify, rewrite or stop

Write a structured instruction for a task from your own work and compare the result with a one-line request.

    Build a reference Project

Set up a Project with style notes and two example documents, then draft from it.

  3. Exercise 3

    Document comparison

Compare two versions of a non-confidential policy and explain what changed and why it matters.

  4. Exercise 4

    Structured brief from messy notes

Turn scattered notes into a brief with purpose, scope and flagged assumptions.

Questions

Before you register

Is this course right for a beginner?

Yes. It assumes no experience with Claude. If you already use ChatGPT, the habits carry over and the exercises show where Claude works differently.

Can I use a free Claude account?

Yes. Free accounts can use Projects, which the course covers, with a limit of five. Usage limits apply over a full day, so a paid or work account gives more room.

Should I take this or ChatGPT Foundations?

Choose the platform your organisation uses. If you have a choice, Claude Foundations suits work built around long documents and careful writing; ChatGPT Foundations suits a broad mix of everyday tasks.
